Common Questions:
What is CorridorCommute?
CorridorCommute is a service that allows drivers and passengers within the Eastern
Iowa Corridor communities to share information about travel conditions very quickly.
It hopes to reduce the times you say, "Man, I wish I would have taken a different route!"
It does this by allowing real people to share their encounters with road conditions, in hopes of
helping others avoid possible problems in the near future.
How can CorridorCommute help me?
Perhaps you commute from Coralville to Cedar Rapids each week day. You make a choice most days
to travel I-380 for the trip. However, there are those days when traffic is unreasonably slow just
north of the Swisher / Shueyville exit. What if somebody driving from Cedar Rapids to Iowa City
15 minutes before you noticed traffic was slow, and posted a message
to CorridorCommute. You could check before you backed out of the driveway, and decide
to take a different route. CorridorCommute can give you
information quickly about conditions as they're encountered by other commuters.
How does it work?
CorridorCommute is powered by people who
provide updates to the service as they move around the corridor.
Some of these contributors may use Twitter, some
might post directly through the CorridorCommute website,
and others via text message or instant message.

When a user submits an update, it goes into the CorridorCommute updates list. These updates are
published on the CorridorCommute website, the
CorridorCommute Twitter feed, and soon, a number of
other update mechanisms (like instant messages, text messages, e-mail, and RSS). Users receive updates
as they're published, which means they're real-time and relevant. Plus, having
a number of different delivery mechanisms allows you to receive updates in a way that is convenient for you.
How can I get involved?
If you'd like to start receiving updates, you can do so right now! Visit the
CorridorCommute website, or start following
